Appletons Wool is a beautiful fibre - 100% pure English wool, spun and dyed in the UK. 

Crewel wool is a 2-ply wool that has been used for a thousand years but became most popular in the seventeenth century. 

It is wonderful not only for embroideries on linen and canvas, but can be used for many thread wrapped button designs, Dorset buttons, Yorkshire buttons, plushwork, tassels, weaving on our Creatiframe Art looms, can be used in narrow ware weaving and makes a good brocade weft. 

There is a beautiful range of colours, and they are a pleasure to work with.
