Crewel work is the term for embroidery worked in fine wool. It was a very popular form of embroidery during the 17th century and as such is often called Jacobean embroidery.

The designs in this kit are inspired by motifs popular during this period, such as acorns, pea pods and trailing vines. This kit contains Appletons quality British crewel wool and everything you need to make beautiful buttons.

The kit includes printed fabric and a little frame to act as a traditional slate frame, allowing your fabric to be stretched while you work for a really professional finish.

Full instructions, a stitch guide, threads, needle and backing felt are also included, as well as a thread holder and brooch pins to turn your buttons into lovely brooches if you wish.
