- Description
As a cottage industry, thread wrapped buttons were made throughout the Macclesfield and Leek areas of England. The designs in this kit are made using techniques known to have been used in the area.
Textile button making can be quite addictive. More often than not, makers want to keep their first buttons as a record of their success. The printed fabric Little Button Journal© included with this kit allows you to do this, making up a sampler for future reference. Printed with drawings and snippets of text about buttons and button making, it also serves as a ground for further creative journalling.
The buttons in this kit use thread wrapping techniques – the type that was most popular during the 18th century. These pretty buttons often look far more complicated than they are, and today can be used to enhance not only textile projects such as clothing and home décor, but made into jewellery, as embellishments and so much more!
Kit contains:
- 14 button moulds (MDF) in two sizes
- 3 skeins of stranded cotton (colours may vary)
- tapestry needle
- printed fabric journal
- and full instructions for 8 different designs
Journal when complete – approx 74mm x 105mm
