Day 52 : Diderot 3/9
An interpretation of one of the button drawings from the Enclyclopedia of Diderot & Alembert, in the passementerie button maker section. In the 1763 volume, the design is "Fig 3", while in the later 1786 edition the designs have been re-numbered and it is Fig 9 (hence my name). I have used techniques that can be found on other buttons of the time to create this, and chose a single colour in keeping with many other types of button at the time. Having completed this, I would make a slight change to the central part of the design, as I have recently come across a better quality image than the one I used as reference! Typical.
