- Description
Wooden thread shuttle specially designed to be held in the hand when working knotting techniques.
Knotting was a popular craft during the Georgian period - the movements involved in making strings of tiny knots was considered an excellent way to show off a woman's graceful hands when in company! A forerunner to tatting, original shuttles are much larger than modern tatting shuttles.
This flat shuttle measures 12.5cm x 5cm and so fits comfortable in the hand.
It is also suitable for a wide range of other uses - the larger size means that it can hold thicker threads as well as fine ones.
Instructions for knotting can be found on the Making Braids & Cords DVD
