Date: Tuesday 6th March 2018
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Gina-B Silkworks' Studio (Corby Glen, Lincolnshire)
Learn how to make a variety of knot buttons, including the Turk's Head, Monkey's Fist, and chevron designs. Great for not only knots, but tassel embellishments too.
Knot button can seen quite daunting - the aim of this workshop is to hopefully simplify the processes. We'll begin by working much larger than historic knot buttons - allowing you to see how the know is formed without getting worried about the fineness of the thread. If time and confidence allow, you'll be able to try other threads.
All materials will be supplied. Please bring a small sewing kit (scissors, needles, pincushion). Button making can require some close work - bring along reading glasses if you need them!
This workshop is aimed at beginner and intermediate makers.
Numbers are kept low to allow one-to-one teaching if needed.
*Car parking is limited - if you are car sharing (or arriving by taxi), I can increase the number of attendees (to a max of 10). Please get in touch so that I can allocate all spaces.
All workshops include hot drinks and water as well as cake or biscuits. Bring your own lunch - this is a country location with no facilities within walking distance.
About the venue
The studio is part of Gina's home and situated in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.
It is located approx 3 miles from the A1 (Colsterworth), 4 miles from Corby Glen, 12 miles from Grantham. When booked, you'll receive directions.
Car parking is limited, but off road. There are no external facilities (ie shops, bank, etc) within walking distance, so you will need to bring with you what you need. We are surrounded by lovely countryside if you wish to spend your lunch break in the fresh air (weather permitting of course!).
Coming from further afield? Corby Glen and outlying villages Swayfield, Irnham and Burton Coggles all have pubs that have rooms and Colsterworth has a Travel Lodge. Nearby places to visit include Woolsthorpe Manor (birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton), approx 2 miles away, andthe Willoughby Art Gallery in Corby Glen.
There are no stairs, however wheelchair access to the toilet will be difficult due to narrower doors and a smaller WC.
Workshop fees are non-refundable. If you wish to pass your ticket onto someone else, please let us know. If we have to cancel a workshop we will try and find an alternative date, but if this is not possible we will refund in full.
Remember, Gina is now able to book in one-to-one or smaller private group sessions in her workshop - please get in touch with your requirements.
