Date: Saturday 15 April 2017
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Gina-B Silkworks' Studio (Corby Glen, Lincolnshire)
Learn how to make a variety of stunnning passementerie buttons. You will aim to complete at least the following; the maze, woven star, decorative square, bound cross and Staphorst button.
Note: If you have previously attended this workshop the buttons that you make can be changed to suit - all workshops can be flexible, the aim if to learn new techniques and have fun.
These designs illustrate a variety of different traditional techniques. Each design has numerous variations that, if time allows, can be further explored, such as adding additional colours and using braids.
All materials will be supplied. Please bring a small sewing kit (scissors, needles, pincushion). Button making can require some close work - bring along reading glasses if you need them!
This workshop is aimed at beginner and intermediate makers.
Numbers are kept low to allow one-to-one teaching if needed.
Car parking is limited - if you are car sharing (or arriving by taxi), I can increase the number of attendees (to a max of 10). Please get in touch so that I can allocate all spaces.
All workshops include hot drinks and water as well as cake or biscuits. Bring your own lunch - this is a country location with no facilities within walking distance.
About the venue:
The studio is part of Gina's home and situated in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.
It is located approx 3 miles from the A1 (Colsterworth), 4 miles from Corby Glen, 12 miles from Grantham. When booked, you'll receive directions.
Car parking is limited, but off road. There are no external facilities (ie shops, bank, etc) within walking distance, so you will need to bring with you what you need. We are surrounded by lovely countryside if you wish to spend your lunch break in the fresh air (weather permitting of course!).
Coming from further afield? Corby Glen and outlying villages Swayfield, Irnham and Burton Coggles all have pubs that have rooms and Colsterworth has a Travel Lodge. Nearby places to visit include Woolsthorpe Manor (birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton), approx 2 miles away, and the Willoughby Art Gallery in Corby Glen.
There are no stairs, however wheelchair access to the toilet will be difficult due to narrower doors and a smaller WC.
Workshop deposits are non-refundable. If you wish to pass your ticket onto someone else, please let us know. If we have to cancel a workshop we will try and find an alternative date, but if this is not possible we will refund in full.
You must provide a phone number where we can reach you on the day of the workshop just in case of illness or unforeseen problem delaying the session.
Remember, Gina is now able to book in one-to-one or smaller private group sessions at the studio - please get in touch with your requirements.
