Date: Sunday 4th April 2020
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Gina-B Silkworks' Studio (Grantham, Lincolnshire)
Learn how to make a variety of stunnning passementerie buttons. You will learn a selection of passementerie buttons, such as the Death's Head, Chequerboard, a Dorset Singleton, Grappé and Sabine Star. (The image is for illustrative purposes only - your level will determine which buttons we are able to make on the day)
Note: If you have previously attended this workshop the buttons that you make can be changed to suit - all workshops can be flexible, the aim is to learn new techniques and have fun.
This choice of button designs illustrates a good cross-section of button types and techniques, such as wrapping, needle-weaving, needle lace, covering buttons with fabric and ring buttons. Each technique has numerous variations that, if time allows, can be further explored.
All materials will be supplied. Please bring a small sewing kit (scissors, needles, pincushion). Button making can require some close work - bring along reading glasses if you need them!
This workshop is aimed at beginner and intermediate makers.
Numbers are kept low to allow for one-to-one if needed.
Discounts are available for group bookings (4 or more)
All workshops include hot drinks and water as well as cake or biscuits. Bring your own lunch - the workshop is on a Sunday there is nowhere local to purchase lunch.
About the venue
The studio is part of the Gina-B Silkworks unit on the Alma Park Industrial Estate in Grantham.
There is ample car parking. There are no external facilities (ie shops, bank, etc) within walking distance, so you will need to bring with you what you need.
This is a teaching area within an industrial unit. As such, please bring layers if you feel the cold in cooler months. There will be plenty of heaters, but sometimes a cardigan is much better!
Please remember to bring a small pair of scissors and your reading glasses if you need them :)
Attendees will receive a 20% discount on any additional items they wish to purchase on the day*.
There is a small step at the entrances, and wheelchair access to the toilet is not possible due to the small sized WC unfortunately.
Workshop fees are non-refundable. If you wish to pass your ticket onto someone else, please let us know. If we have to cancel a workshop we will try and find an alternative date, but if this is not possible we will refund in full.
You must provide a phone number where we can reach you on the day of the workshop just in case of illness or unforeseen problem delaying the session.
Remember, Gina is now able to book in one-to-one or smaller private group sessions in her studio - please get in touch with your requirements.
