This rolled gimp has been hand made exclusively for Gina-B Silkworks, using traditional passementerie techniques. 

We have commissioned a range of passementerie cords (known in the trade as 'lines') from a leading passementerie workshop. These beautiful cords and trims can be used to create stunning decorative textiles.

This complex cord is made by tightly coiling a stiff wrapped gimp around a taught wrapped gimp. It takes great skill to ensure that the coiled are correctly formed. It is then hand dyed. The resulting cord is very stiff and is used for various decorative elements - usually for tassels. This one is approx 2mm wide. The photo shows the coil spread apart. 

This type of line is often seen in tassel making - it is used to create little flowers and jasmines, drop and other decorations. It is also suitable for couching in embroidery and can be used in ganutell and jewellery design.

Where possible, lengths over 1m will be cut as a continuous length
