Soie Ovale is a low twist filament silk that is smooth, soft, and lustrous. It is available in a range of colours that match the Soie D'Alger range. It is perfect for satin wrapping both tassel moulds and buttons (stunning for Death's head designs!), wonderful for cartisane, fine ganutell and is excellent for any historic applications, especially embroidery, braiding and brocade weaves. 

Ovale can be a little difficult to work with - its best to apply hand cream before handling it. Use a laying tool to help keep the strands flat when embroidering. Don't be put off, flat silk really does give a sheen and beauty that is unmistakable.

It is made of the best qualities of raw silk which give it an unrivalled brightness and softness.

Au Ver a Soie threads do not snarl in the needle and have a good tensile strength. It resists also very well to abrasion. The company takes care to ensure that this product is properly made. It is considered as a reference thread in all needlework activities.
