Trapunto is a very old quilting technique where the stitching is worked first, and then the spaces filled with wadding or stuffing. By changing the top fabric to a sheer material and adding coloured stuffing, shadow trapunto was born.

The finished work is delicate and pretty - very similar to modern parchment work.
